Airline Strategy - Full Economy, 3-class, or Cargo
Introduction
A foundamental decision to make is what strategy you want to follow with your airline.
Do you want to do a passenger airline or a cargo airline?
Do you want to run a full econony "low cost" company, or a "tri-class" with business and first passengers?
Earlier you make this decision, better you can:
- focus on which type of plane to research and purchase;
- what hub and route to choose;
- as well as which R&D service to unlock first.
Keep in mind that, yes, you can change your strategy; but this will come with some cost ($$$) and this will slow your growth down.
Ready? Let's dive in.
Topic in this chapter:
PAX or Cargo?
At the begining of the game, you have to start as a passenger airline ("PAX").
Soon after, you have the option to unlock the cargo R&D which give you the choice:
Do you want to continue as a passenger airline, or convert towards a cargo company?
Spoiler alert: Even though all type of airlines can be profitable on AM2, a full cargo is likely
one of the least profitable.
Should you decide to do a full cargo company: check this
section of the guide.
Otherwise, carry on deciding between full economy vs tri-class.
Full Economy or Tri-Class (Eco, Business, First)?
Cargo is a good addition for any left over space in your plane, but it should NOT be your primary goal.
Next Chapter: shorthaul vs longhaul.
